After a month of sleep-deprivation and working 6 day weeks, clinicals have finally come to a close for this semester. I finally have my time and social life back. When my brain starts to reconfigure itself to think coherent thoughts, I'll write some more. But for now, brain and body are still in the recovery phase.

For some strange reason, I've been keeping meticulous tabs on the books I've been reading over the last few years. Since I don't really have anywhere else useful to put them, I thought I might post them here. In hindsight, it doesn't really look like an impressively long list, but that's probably the most I've read in a year since I've been keeping tabs.
Bleh. Uni starts again in a few weeks. I suppose the reading list will have to go into hiatus for a while. Bummer.
So I've been watching a lot of Scrubs and Grey's Anatomy lately. Yeah, yeah, I'm a sucker for medical shows. Probably because I'm a nursing student. Any other fans of both shows out there?
Anyway, in Scrubs Season 6, I've noticed that the writers of the show are becoming less and less subtle in their dumping of other medical shows. For example, the episode titled "My House" is obviously a direct reference to, well, Dr. House.
Well, kind of along the line of parodies, or perhaps an homage, I thought this particular shot of Elliot Reid from Scrubs seems slightly too resemblant to a character I've seen in another show.
Is anyone else thinking of Addison Shepherd from Grey's? Or do you think maybe it's just a coincidence that they're somewhat dressed and gelled similarly?
Maybe it's just me? Ah, random musings. Anyway, back to Scrubs.
Mmm, zombie cocktails. High alcoholic content = zombie-like behaviour. Very fascinating. Now if only I could find somewhere in Melbourne that actually makes this drink. Would love to shout everyone a round seeing as there is a 21st to celebrate around the corner.
I don't know what amuses me more about this book. Is it:
a) because the book looks like a cheesy tabloid sci-fi book when it's supposed to be taken seriously?
b) because the review on the cover says "if you're planning to be alive in the year 2000, you've got to read this book"?
or c) simply because the author's surname is Popcorn?
Take your pick. I think all three reasons are quite amusing. Let me contemplate whether or not I'm going to bother reading it.
As posted on LiveJournal:
LMAO, self explanatory post subject. I disappeared for a month to go on a mission. A month later, here I am again.
So, the trip. We departed from Melb on the 27th of March en route to Manila, Philippines. Then hopped on another plane to Legazpi. That's where the bulk of the mission took place. I don't want to cause an information overload, because lots of things were done in Legazpi. Instead here's a link to our missions blog. The missions blog was our means of communicating to home. We tried to update it with reports as often as we could, but alas, our time was too limited.
And since a photo is apparently worth 1000 words, here's a slideshow for your viewing pleasure. Of the 613 shots I managed to take whilst in the Phils, I chose a few handfuls of highlights to sum up the trip.
My apologies for not getting to include shots of the adult ministries. During the times were were ministering to the adults, I was always the musician in residence. Tis not an easy feat holding a guitar and taking photos at the same time. So I left those shots for someone else to take XD
So yes, that's the trip summed up as briefly as possible. Any questions? Feel free to leave a comment. I'd be more than happy to oblige.
It seems order has been restored in all manners of things since the return of the parentals. Life seems to be back to normal, but I'm not sure if I'm to be pleased or disappointed. Perhaps more pleased. Although I enjoyed the freedom, deep down I also enjoy the security... sometimes.
I can say one thing though. I very much enjoy the "pasalubongs" (gifts upon return).
I enjoy the fact that these were purchased for roughly 20 USD as opposed to the 80 AUD it would have been if I'd have bought a pair here.
Anyway, take care all! I gotta do some packing of my own. Leaving in less than a week.
